The kids are playing outside!

The kids were on spring break last week and the national emergency of the COVID19 virus did restrict up from our initial plans to travel to Dollywood.  However, there were some unintended results of these developments.  They are playing outside!

Maddox who has not learned how to ride a bike, is now riding a bike.  Both Kennedy and him have sped around the neighborhood countless times.  They helped with yard work, played soccer, and just sat and were kids.

What is fascinating over the last 7 days I am witnessing some unity between the constant squabbles between Maddox and Kennedy.   Outside this seems to be even lower and their imagination and love for each other shines as bright as the sun.  (it is also not perfect, there are moments) Kennedy is the one that I have seen the most transition, she wants to be outside vs the TV now.   Nothing now seems to matter other than riding her bike or trying to jump rope 10 times in a row.

Now I cannot be for certain that their love for the outdoors will last or impact their ever-contested relationship but there is something there that wasn’t before.   Will write about this again but let the kids play outside.
