Talking to you Kids about a Pandemic!

I think like all things; kids are acutely aware of what is happening in the world around them.  It is better to approach the subject vs ignoring it.   We had the conversation last week, Kennedy was super inquisitive and wanted to know why people were losing their jobs, what was furlough, and what happens if we get sick.

We had the conversation and I was super honest.  They felt good and we all agreed to pitch in more as our front line warrior is mommy.   Here are some resources and tips:

  • Don’t be afraid to have the conversation
  • Be developmentally appropriate
  • Take cues from them
  • Reassure them
  • Focus on what we all can do to be safe
  • Don’t show your own anxieties
  • Keep dialogue on going.
