Well, the physical terms it is pretty easy…then comes the realization that woah….I am responsible for this kids entire life.   Then a deep sense of fear of not being able to live up to the level needed and then excitement.

I was reminded recently when someone asked me for advice as they soon to be having their first.  Meanwhile, I am at a decade of experience and have three, I feel that what I have learned is not much but more than I knew a decade ago.

There are so many scenarios that arise that you may or may not know what to do.  Situations that come in from all sides that you have to advise when you still are thinking…..WHAT?  There are hundreds approaches to being a dad.

But it all boils down to this:

Wake up in the morning, work your hardest to set the right example, do your best at being present, make funny noises to get laughs, find the right words when you can, be their dad, be their friend, hug them when they don’t want a hug, take them places, have an imagination, be real, and always love their mom.  I think if you do that in a nutshell, you got a pretty good start on how to be a Dad!
