If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think that you dare not, you don’t
If you think you’d like to win, but you think you can’t
It’s Almost a cinch that you won’t
For out in the world you find
Success begins with a fellow’s will.
It’s all in the state of mind.

For many a race is lost
Before ever a step is run.
And many coward fails
Before his work is begun.
Think big, and your deeds will grow;
Think small and you will fall behind;
Think that you can and you will
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are
You have to think high to rise
You have to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s Battles don’t always go
To the stronger or the faster man,
But sooner or later the man who wins,
Is the fellow that thinks he can.

By Nick J Nickolaou

I recall am a conversation in ’97 or ’98. Something happened where I did not get something that I wanted, if I associate it with the time of school I either didn’t perform well at a basketball tryout or didn’t a role I wanted. It was right before we moved and I was in his office doubting my abilities and having my own 16-year-old pity party.

He looked at me and said “you have it wrong, if you are going in thinking you can’t—someone else will.” Nickolaou’s work harder to achieve the goals. “You need to understand son, if you work harder, prepare more than anyone, you can. You must think that way.”

22 or so years later, I always ‘Think I Can’.
