Posted by Keeping this secret has been tough. We’re expecting another baby Nickolaou #3 and we are super excited to share the news. If you know me, it is extremely tough for me to keep quiet with such exciting news, to say that I was counting down the days was an understatement.
We have always talked about a 3rd and never decided. For whatever reason, Devon and I would go back and forth on if it was the right time, wait until this milestone, etc. We moved into the larger ‘forever home’ and said maybe. It seemed like every time one of us was ready the other would back off. With time ticking and the thought about this being our real last chance. We decided that it was time. We found out Christmas morning that we were expecting. Talk about an AMAZING Christmas present.
I have always loved big families. How loud it could get during the holidays, the energy, the fun. This was naturally a reason for the want of a third. But honestly, breaking it down. I just love being a dad. The fact that you get to develop and prepare a human for the rest of their life is the greatest responsibility and future accomplishment you can have. So, you are probably thinking…wait, you have a soon to be 9-year-old (Maddox) and 7-year-old (Kennedy) what are you doing? Enjoying it one last time before I am looking at two college students? Holding on to being a parent of young kids? All of that is probably relevant but this just feels complete!
We told the kids on Super Bowl Sunday during a photo shoot. Each child had a frame and we had them turn them around to reveal. It took them a few second (see video below).
My favorite part was the moment Maddox’s wheels were turning and he realizes that this was it. Don’t let Kennedy’s head shake deceive you, she was GLEAMING for days after we told them. She was shaking her head mainly because she was told it was never happening. If you know Kennedy, little white lies never leave her mind.
