Early August of last year, I opened the refrigerator to clean it out. This occurrence seem to have every week and consistent of me tossing three to five days of leftovers in plastic bags and taking them to the trash. Then there was the ½ bottles of sauce, broth, etc. that were ingredients that we just didn’t need to use it all but kept them in there just in case. I was annoyed, frustrated, and felt our waste was disgusting.
I have heard friends use these meal services where you get everything delivered to your door once a week. Hello Fresh being the main one. I honestly, thought they were about the only one until my frustration in August led me to do some research. When I came across Marley Spoon I was intrigued with the unique menu of meals and the price point was affordable.
For those who don’t know, recipe box services send you the recipes and all the items you need to make the meal (except for oil, salt, pepper, etc) You decided how many meals a week for how many people. Much like a subscription service with the option to cancel at any time and skip a week if needed.
We signed up, selected our first week of meals, planned our deliver date, and downloaded the app. We were super excited and had planned to have four meals delivered each week for us. Our delivery date arrived and FedEx delivered the box to the front door. All the meals were individually wrapped and the cold items were safely packed at the bottom of the box.
Five months later, we are still using Marley Spoon. I have found they are responsive to issues, the recipes are easy to execute, and the meals are good portions and taste fantastic. Tonight we had skillet Chicken Parm that took me 30 minutes to make.

It is tough with both kids in practice daily. This has literally eliminated food waste and fast food buys. We are saving and average of $80 a week in total savings with Marley Spoon. Let us know if you want a free box.
