I will not lie; I have spent years seeing people post about New Year’s Resolutions and I cannot help but groan. I totally believe in goals, ideas, statements, and being the best kick ass version of yourself possible. I just don’t believe in a resolution.
So why don’t I believe in them? Because they are the worst way to create change and you result in failing. Our years are filled with so many moments. The course of your year can change in countless ways for the better/worst and being tied to a resolution vs a goal list might be detrimental to achieving it. Setting these massive expectations for yourself is just not realistic.
This year I did want to start something new. A list of goals where some are specific and some I do not know what they currently mean. If you indulge me, here they are:
- Take a photography class
- Write a children’s book
- Witness something that takes my breath away
- Visit Disney more with the family
- Lose 15lbs
- Inspire someone to chase their dreams
- Travel
- Volunteer with the kids
- Help a stranger
- Plan a boy’s trip
- Have our friends over for dinner…eat great food…play games…
- Create something that brings joy to others
That’s it. 12 things, 12 months, let’s see what happens. The hope is that a list of constant goals that you can refer to will continue to help improve you. That is so much what it’s about, how to improve one. I don’t know where this road will take me, I don’t know if I will accomplish this all but I must think we need to protect/cherish our core things that inspire us. I hope your 2019 inspires you.
Keep living my friends and find your inspiration for this year!
